London and Cheltenham-based media boutique Wiggin, which posted a revenue of £10.8m last year, has a client roster most larger firms would die for. It includes all six of the major US film studios, ITV, Channel 4, Manchester United and EMI.

A low-cost base in Cheltenham helps make Wiggin more profitable than most regional players, although its London and international client base is reflected in the fact that all of its lawyers maintain offices in both towns.

Wiggin moved from a 30 April to 31 March year-end in 2009-10, partly to delay paying the new 50 per cent tax rate for 12 months.
