Sheffield-based Wake Smith & Tofields saw its revenue drop by 20 per cent during 2009-10. Litigation and property are the biggest departments at the firm, accounting for 23.7 per cent and 17.3 per cent of turnover respectively. The 13-equity partner firm recorded a net profit of £1.49m and an average profit per equity partner of £115,000. Revenue per partner stood at £279,000, while revenue per lawyer came in at £163,000.

Clients include Dialogue Communications, Yorkshire Building Society and the Salvation Army. It is currently advising the latter on the expansion of its retail portfolio.
