Scotland’s Tods Murray fell out of the UK’s top 100 firms by turnover in the 2007-08 financial year and last year saw no bounce back. Total fee income for 2009-10 stood at £14.8m, 37 per cent down from its 2005-06 high of £23.4m. The firm was hit over the past couple of years by its large exposure to the property and finance markets. Property is the largest practice followed by finance, corporate and litigation.

Tods Murray has offices in Edinburgh and Glasgow and operates a modified lockstep that runs over five years. In the past financial year average profit per equity partner fell below the £100,000 mark.
