Earlier this year, Cambridge-based Taylor Vinters opened its first office in London. The City base, the success of which looks key to the firm’s ambitions over the coming years, has already added partners in employment and commercial since opening in May. Taylor Vinters is also looking to recruit partners in corporate and private client.
The firm made 14 staff redundant in 2008-09, but there were no cuts in the past financial year.
Instead the firm scaled back recruitment activity at its Cambridge headquarters and introduced a credit management system to drive down debtor days.
The firm’s financial figures remained fairly static on 2008-09’s, with turnover dropping by 1.3 per cent to £15m and net profit falling slightly, from £2.7m to £2.6m.
The firm is targeting revenue growth of £1m over the next year and also plans to expand its client base in Singapore, forming an alliance in July with local firm Keystone Law Corporation.
Closer to home, while corporate revenue dropped from 31 per cent to 27 per cent of fee income, property and litigation held up well, contributing £3.6m and £4.2m of income respectively.
