It was another successful year for litigation boutique Stewarts Law. Turnover rose by just

under 30 per cent, from £15.43m in 2008-09 to £20.05m in 2009-10.

Despite some significant investment into the firm, including the launch of an antitrust arm in Leeds, the firm’s average profit per equity partner crept upwards from its already stratospheric £769,000 to £797,000.

Stewarts expanded its total number of lawyers from 40 to 58 and the partnership from 19 to 25. The equity partnership, however, remained static at nine.

The top of the equity moved downwards, from £963,000 to £903,000, while entry-level partners received a slightly improved remuneration at £674,000, up from £651,000.
