Guildford-based Stevens & Bolton says its 2009-10 revenue would have been significantly higher had billings from a major fraud matter that featured a 100 per cent uplift come through. Instead the fees were booked at the start of the current year, getting 2010-11 off to a flyer.
That said, the firm’s £15.2m revenue was only marginally down on 2008-09’s £15.7m.
The firm’s move to new offices this year does not appear to have significantly dented the average profit per equity partner figure, which stood at £275,000.
The well-hedged firm, which features 21 per cent property, 24 per cent corporate and 26 per cent litigation, is also extremely tightly run financially. The lockup target at the firm is just 110 days, but at the year-end total lockup stood at 93 days.
