South West firm Stephens Scown has had to scale back its ambitions somewhat in recent years. The firm is still rooted in a commercial property sector that has failed to bounce back over the past two years, a fact reflected in a revenue figure that has fallen from £11.5m to £10.7m. The 2009-10 performance follows a drop from a 2007-08 high of £12.5m, representing a two-year decline of 14 per cent.
The firm has three offices in Devon and Cornwall, housing 33 partners in an all-equity partnership. Away from the property practice, which brought in a third of revenue in 2009-10, turnover is driven by the firm’s litigation and family law arms.
