This personal injury (PI)-driven Newcastle firm may not have achieved the spectacular growth experienced by some of its North East rivals, but while some of those are struggling, Sintons steadily posts revenue increases. Turnover rose by 2.2 per cent to £9.2m in 2009-10 – its third consecutive year of growth.
Staff numbers dropped from 160 to 150, but the number of fee-earners rose by 24 per cent, from 86 to 107. Sintons raided its rivals for two commercial partners, bringing in James Corcoran from Ward Hadaway and Matt Collen from Muckle.
The firm also made hires in its PI practice, which accounts for a large part of its £5.5m disputes income. The commercial team, set up in 1998, accounts for 13 per cent of revenue, while private client continues to provide a steady stream of work.
