Scottish firm Semple Fraser saw turnover continue to slide in 2009-10, with its large exposure to the property market proving a revenue dampener.
In total the firm generated a revenue of £11.1m, down by 11 per cent on the previous year’s figure and by 28 per cent from its 2007-08 high of £15.3m.
During the year the firm, which was founded in Glasgow in 1990 and expanded into Edinburgh in 2002, also grew south of the border. It opened in Manchester in October 2009 with an office headed by property partner Ewan Thomson, who relocated from Edinburgh.
The firm shelved plans, made prior to the financial crisis, to open a base in the City.
Real estate remains the largest practice group, accounting for 62 per cent of turnover during 2009-10. Litigation and corporate made up 11 and 10 per cent respectively.
