Morton Fraser’s turnover dropped by 4 per cent, from £16.1m to £15.4m, during the 2009-10 financial year.
Around a third of the Scottish firm’s business is private client, while litigation, which includes family and employment, generates the greatest share of turnover. Last year 45 per cent of revenue, or £6.93m, came from disputes.
The firm made a number of investments during the year, most significantly taking on new premises in Edinburgh. It signed a 15-year lease on 36,000sq ft
in Edinburgh’s Quartermile development, taking up residence in October 2009.
Morton Fraser also made a number of lateral hires, taking on Glasgow employment partner Lindsey Cartwright from Maclay Murray & Spens and hiring Brodies corporate partner Iain Young as a consultant.
