McClure Naismith’s heavy exposure to transactional markets saw turnover drop by 11 per cent to £13.9m last year.
The Scottish firm, which made 11 redundancies in the 2008-09 financial year, continued to control costs in 2009-10. It asked all staff to take unpaid leave, with 99 per cent signing up and taking a minimum of eight days.
The scheme is continuing in the current year, with staff taking a minimum of five days, for which they will be rewarded with a bonus if the firm meets its targets.
Last year the bulk of McClure’s revenue was generated from Edinburgh and Glasgow, with
17 per cent coming from its five-partner London base.
Litigation was McClure’s largest revenue generator at 30 per cent, followed by corporate and property.
