Manchester firm JMW Solicitors had a banner year in 2009-10. Turnover increased by 28 per cent to £11m, while profit hit £2.7m. The corporate and private client-driven firm, which counts Marks & Spencer and KPMG as clients, owes much of this growth to its litigation department.
This was bolstered in 2008 by the purchase of one of the UK’s largest claims management companies, Wheels At Once (trading as U Claim), for £850,000.
In May 2010 JMW hired Pannone senior partner Joy Kingsley, the firm’s ninth equity partner, and in June announced that it would be opening an office in London to cater for celebrity clients such as Max Clifford.
