Cambridge-headquartered Hewitsons posted a turnover of £13.7m in 2009-10, down by 13.3 per cent on 2008-09’s £15.8m and 26 per cent on 2007-08’s £18.6m. As well as revenue, the firm has also shed staff, down to 215 from 260 in 2008-09.
Hewitsons concentrates on three main areas: corporate, property and private client, the latter providing the bulk of the firm’s revenue last year at around 35 per cent of turnover. The 40-partner (21 equity) firm’s more traditional drivers of work, corporate and property, accounted for 28 and 26 per cent respectively.
In August the firm, which also has offices in Northampton and Milton Keynes, bulked up its employment team with partner Clare Waller from HRJ Law.
