Turnover at Scotland’s Harper Macleod rose by 7 per cent in 2009-10, from £14.1m to £15.1m. This was largely the result of the firm’s push into growing areas such as insurance, insurance litigation and debt recovery.
The firm made two significant lateral hires during the year, taking on Wright Johnston & Mackenzie partner David Bone to build a renewable energy practice and adding McClure Naismith partner Derek Hogg to its public sector practice.
Harper Macleod’s equity spread was £90,000-£410,000 last year.
The firm operates a merit-based remuneration system, with partners placed on a spread of £70,000-£160,000 at the beginning of the year, gaining up to 11 points over the year to increase their profit shares. To date the maximum number of points awarded is 10.
