Cheshire-headquartered Gorvins Solicitors, which focuses primarily on a range of commercial and private client services, disclosed its turnover in 2008-09 as being between £7.5m and £8m. Last year the firm preferred not to disclose its figures. The Lawyer estimates its turnover for the 2009-10 financial year at £7m.
The 14-partner firm lost around a dozen fee-earners, including the head of its family team Amanda McAlister and two other partners to Russell Jones & Walker in January 2010. Gorvins still maintains one of the more significant family practices outside London, however. The other main practices include commercial property, corporate, employment and litigation.
