West End firm Finers Stephens Innocent is traditionally known for its property practice. No surprise then that revenue has tumbled since the property market crashed in 2008-09.
That year fee income fell by 23 per cent to £17m. It was a better story last year, though, with the firm posting a slight increase to £17.5m, thanks in part to an increase in litigation and corporate. Family, employment and private client also performed well.
Finers’ headcount has reduced by around 15 per cent since 2008-09, but in recent months it has stepped up its recruitment activity, adding Tim Bignell from Druces and employment partner Jane Amphlett from Addleshaw Goddard to the partnership.
The firm is also receiving an increasing amount of corporate and private client instructions through its association with Meritas, the global alliance of independent firms.
