Collyer Bristow’s turnover remained static in 2009-10 at £13.6m, a figure still short of its 2007-08 high of £14.7m.
The firm has traditionally been strong in property, an area it saw return last year thanks to a raft of instructions relating to the higher end of the London market. Last year it accounted for £2m of the firm’s turnover.
Private client also held up well, while litigation, at 35 per cent of fee income, remains another key practice. Growth in media, IP, defamation and reputation management are now the firm’s biggest priorities. Cue the hire of media and IP partner Kate Macmillan from Gallant Macmillan. Her arrival took the number of partners at the firm to 32, the highest in its history.
