South Coast firm Coffin Mew is aiming at doubling turnover over the next two years. Last year’s performance bodes well for that ambition. The firm posted an increased profit, with an average profit per equity partner of £109,000 seeing it bounce back from the previous year, and a revenue of £11.1m that was flat only because of an 11-month fiscal year (it changed its year-end to 31 March to postpone paying the new 50 per cent tax rate).
The social housing and litigation-dominated firm is ditching its modified lockstep this year in favour of an entirely merit-based remuneration system. Other practice areas include corporate, private client and clinical negligence.
