MANCHESTER and London firm Elliott & Company could be swallowed by Dibb Lupton Broomhead if talks between the two are formalised.
Both practices confirm they have held merger talks.
Claims that Dibbs has offered equity partnership to only four of Elliotts' partners have been denied, and the two maintain that no deal has been struck yet.
"We have indeed spoken to Dibb Lupton Broomhead," said Elliotts equity partner Martin Farrell. "The discussions are on-going, no offer of any sort has been made, and certainly no conclusion has been reached. They are a firm we admire, and we hope it is reciprocated."
Dibbs signed Elliotts partner Andrew Banfill and underwriter Keith Pooley to its London office earlier this year. They were appointed to grow the firm's reinsurance practice.
Dibbs business development partner Stuart Benson said Elliotts had a renowned insurance practice. "We have a very strong and growing insurance practice and there is a clear fit to adding other good people already in the field to a practice that is expanding."
