Dibb Lupton Alsop has been chosen to advise the Latvian parliament as part of the country's preparation to join the EU.
Associate Mike Pullen, of Dibbs' Brussels office, will offer guidance on the compatibility of the country's public procurement law with the EU's public procurement directives.
Dibbs has also advised the Lithuanian government in the past and has acted on EU funded legal projects in eastern Europe.
Pullen describes the work as "interesting and important". He says: "It is essential that candidate countries receive practical business friendly advice on the implementation and enforcement of EU law."
Dibbs has also acted on EU-funded legal projects in Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Estonia, Slovenia and Romania.
Pullen was recently appointed by Medecins sans Frontiers to advise pro bono on cross-border transactions.
