Diabetic claims damages

The case of 46-year-old diabetes sufferer Derek Beatty is set to go to the Court of Appeal. He claims doctors wrongly prescribed a change in his insulin from an animal to human-based product and then failed to diagnose that the symptoms he began suffering from were side-effects of the new drug. The case went before Luton County Court earlier this month and an appeal by Beatty against an earlier dismissal of his claim was dismissed. Beatty, a healthcare consultant, says the side-effects he suffered included a personality change, aggressive behaviour, acute perspiration, muscular cramp, skin disorders, tendonitis and depression.
