Dewey & LeBoeuf is closing down its San Francisco office and combining its Bay Area legal and support staff.
As first reported by legal blog Abovethelaw.com, the US firm will move the four partner, three counsel and ten associate team to the nearby Silicon Valley office. The firm will keep a San Francisco service office open for lawyers to use temporarily.
A statement released by the firm said: “Combining two locations that are in relatively close geographic proximity will help the firm build a critical mass in one central location in the Bay Area and gain greater access to growing business opportunities in Silicon Valley.”
The statement added that the San Francisco office will continue as a support office for the foreseeable future.
Last year The Lawyer reported on Dewey closing down its 11-lawyer Charlotte office (27 October). The firm’s offices in Austin, Hartford and Jacksonville will close their doors at the end of this month.
Dewey also saw significant growth internationally last year announcing its Dubai launch last year and plans to launch in Abu Dhabi and Qatar this year.
