Dewey Ballantine has added corporate finance and bankruptcy capability to its new Houston office
David Burns has joined the US firm from Baker Botts, where he served as chair of the firm's finance practice. The Houston office opened in October when Alan Gover arrived from Weil Gotshal & Manges. Burns brings capabilities to support the core energy practice. He acted for Pennzoil in the Texaco Chapter 11 filing, Dynegy and Reliant Energy in the Enron bankruptcy and is a regular adviser to JP Morgan Chase. Gover said: "David's experience servicing some of the top energy and financial companies in the world will strengthen our current practice and help us to fulfil the growing needs of our clients in these industries when their legal issues are becoming increasingly complex." Chair of Dewey's management committee Everett Jassy said the firm was committed to its energy clients and that Houston, as the energy capital of the US, is the ideal location to build up its practice.
