  • Didn't the Howrey debacle play out a bit like this?
This looks like a snowball rolling down a hill very fast.

  • It's amazing how fast a big firm can implode these days.
A process which might have played out over a period of years in the past now takes just a few months (although the rot obviously set in long ago).

  • You can't make this up -- this is an actual quote from Dewey today (17 April):
"The number who have left to date, including firm initiated reductions, is consistent with the reduced headcount contemplated by our plan, which contemplates limited further headcount reduction over the next several months," the statement says.
I could have sworn that this quote was used by the management at Heller and Howrey as well.

  • Here are the infidels leaving, who will repeat the same elsewhere. Thus, there is no problem at all, it is a self clean process. Then the firm will do much better without them.

Oh dear, the closest thing to support for Dewey looks like a deliberate parody...

  • It looks like the tipping point has been reached - the partners left behind who are too slow to get the hell out now will be left with a mountain of debt to pay off.

  • Desperate times call for desperate measures!!! How desperate must these Dewey guys be to jump to Hunton. From one sinking ship to another very leaky ship. I hope that the Dewey guys come wearing life preserves and carrying buckets as they will have to use them again pretty shortly!!

  • Rats leaving a sinking ship indeed! They will soon realise there is no cheese at Hunton and will be off to their next gig soon enough!

  • Hunton's profitability is so poor that these guys must be so desperate to take such a pay cut to join Huntons
