Dewey Ballantine is opening an office in Houston after taking on Alan Gover from Weil Gotshal & Manges.
Gover was co-founder of Weil Gotshal's Houston office and headed its utility and energy practice group. After working with Dewey Ballantine on a number of cases, he decided to join the firm as a founder of the Houston office. Initially there will be only one partner, although the firm is planning to expand the office by the end of the year with the at least one new partner. Fred Gander, managing partner at Dewey Ball-antine's London office, said: "I think that the concept of having an office in Houston has been in our minds for a couple of years, but came to fruition because of Alan Gover."
