Dewey and DLA advise on eBay's Turkish acquisition

Dewey & LeBoeuf has advised online auction site eBay on its acquisition of its Turkish counterpart Gitti Gidiyor Bilgi Teknolojileri Sanayi ve Ticaret Anonim Sirketi.

Silicon Valley M&A partner and technology specialist Keith Flaum led the transaction for the US firm. Fellow Silicon Valley partner John Brockland and Los Angeles M&A partner David Smith also advised on the deal.

DLA Piper advised the Turkish target company, the country’s largest online marketplace. Sillicon Valley corporate partner Richard Millard led the deal, while local counsel came from Turkish firm Paksoy, led by its corporate chief Elvan Aziz.

The deal saw eBay buy additional shares in the target company following its minority investment in 2007. Upon completion it will own 93 per cent of the shares.

  • This was a good transaction. For completeness, Bener Law Office was the local counsel for eBay.
