Dentons, Shoosmiths make HRG panel

The owner of Argos and Homebase has completed its first formal panel review, appointing three firms until February 2012.

Milton Keynes-based Home Retail Group (HRG) head of legal Paul Barrett has instructed Denton Wilde Sapte, Shoosmiths and Wragge & Co to advise on commercial, commercial litigation, insolvency and product liability.

Dentons TMT head Scott Singer said: “We’ve worked for both Argos and Homebase independently for the past 20 years on real estate. We’ve been looking at growing the commercial practice and HRG has been a priority target.”

Shoosmiths partner and IP/IT head Gary Assim commented: “This is the first time we’ve had a working relationship with HRG. [It has a] new general counsel, there’s a change in the economy and I think it was a coincidence of that and us being local that helped us win the place.”
