Denton Wilde Sapte’s competition department has taken another hit, this time with the loss of senior associate Alan Davis who is joining Pinsents to head up the firm’s competition team in London.
His departure comes hot on the heels of departmental head Polly Weitzman who joined Ofcom, the new super-regulator for the media and communications industry, and junior partner Suyong Kim who headed to Wilmer Cutler & Pickering.
Davis was part of the team that acted for the 16 UK member banks of Mastercard, that are being investigated by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT). However, as revealed by The Lawyer (8 December) Dentons lost the work to Lovells at the end of last year.
Davis has also acted for online travel company Opodo. He joins as a partner and will head Pinsents’ competition team in London.
At the same time Pinsents has made another senior hire in competition, taking on Herbert Smith senior associate, Giles Warrington.
Pinsents competition team now has four partners and is headed nationally by Kate Rees.
