Denton Wilde Sapte has won a role advising the administrators of European hotel chain the Real Hotel Company.
The business, which owns 61 hotels across the UK, France, Germany and Belgium and trades under brands including Best Western and Quality Hotels, called in BDO Stoy Hayward restructuring specialists Shay Bannon and Antony Nygate after its shares were suspended from Aim.
Dentons insolvency partner Neil Griffiths is leading the team acting for BDO with support from partners and associates in the firm’s dispute resolution, employment, real estate and banking practices.
According to Griffiths there are a number of options open to the administrators, who are in the process of trying to find a buyer for the hotel business.
As the group, which also operates the New Connaught Rooms function centre in London, controls several brands in a number of countries it is possible that individual brands could be sold off separately.
While Dentons has won a number of instructions from BDO over the years, it also had a relationship with the Real Hotel Company, having advised NatWest as the company’s senior secured lender.
In the run-up to being placed in administration, the Real Hotel Company was being advised by Nabarro corporate partner Peter Williamson. Nabarro has acted for the company for 20 years.
