Swedish firm Delphi & Co is set to merge with niche life sciences firm Rambe Legal Consultants early next year.
Lars Rambe heads the niche firm and will become a partner and head of life sciences at Delphi next spring.
Rambe worked in-house at Pharmacia and Amersham Biosciences before setting up on his own in 1999. He continued advising the companies after they merged, as well as some of their spin-offs, such as Gyros and Biovitrum.
Delphi approached Rambe earlier in the year after it had swallowed Rambe's Uppsala ally GLS Law.
"It's all very well when working with clients on day-to-day business," said Rambe of his niche firm, "but it works less well when working on major transactions, which require employment and corporate advice."
The firms will continue to operate separately until full integration in 2004.
