Dechert taps Morgan Lewis for securitisation haul

Dechert has swooped on Morgan Lewis & Bockius, taking an eight-lawyer securitisation team including the former chairman of the group.

Steven Molitor, a partner with Morgan Lewis for over 10 years, this week led the team of attorneys to Dechert’s Philadelphia office. During his time at Morgan Lewis before which he practised with New York’s Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy, Molitor served as chairman of the securitisation group.

The loss arrives just after Morgan Lewis saw two partners leave its West Coast practice. Partners Larry Engel and Roderick McLeod left for White & Case and Jones Day respectively within the last couple of months. Both lawyers hailed from Brobeck Phleger & Harrison, from where Morgan Lewis rescued around 150 attorneys when the firm collapsed last year.

Meanwhile back on the East Coast, Latham & Watkins’ New York office has boosted its IP litigation team by hiring partner Steven Cherny from Fish & Neave. Latham houses over 125 IP litigators throughout the firm.
