Dechert has ended its hunt for a partner to launch its office in Dublin, hiring William Fry funds partner Declan O’Sullivan.
Late last year (9 November) The Lawyer reported that Dechert was closing in on a pre-Christmas Dublin launch. Talks with two partners from another of Dublin’s big five firms are understood to have broken down.
O’Sullivan qualified as a solicitor in 1992 and joined the asset management and investment funds team at William Fry in 1995, where he became partner in 2000.
His practice focuses on the establishment and authorisation of a range of investment funds, including Ucits, hedge funds, property funds and private equity products.
It is understood that no William Fry associates have indicated that they will be moving with O’Sullivan.
Neither Dechert nor William Fry would confirm O’Sullivan’s move.

Can't imagine there's much happening in Dublin these days as Ireland's economy hit the skids and isn't recovering anytime soon.

There is a large amount of funds' work going into Dublin at the moment - managers are looking to domicile UCITS and alternative investment funds there
