Dechert lures CC partner to Islamic group

Dechert has raided Clifford Chance’s New York office to bag a new partner for its Islamic finance group.

Dechert has raided Clifford Chance‘s New York office to bag a new partner for its Islamic finance group.

Andreas Junius, a private equity specialist with experience in sharia-compliant deals, resigned from Clifford Chance on Friday (3 March). He is German and US-qualified and will work in Dechert’s New York and Frankfurt offices.

Junius has been a partner at Clifford Chance since 1986 and was formerly head of Pünder Volhard Weber & Axster’s New York office before it merged with the magic circle firm.

The hire is a coup for Dechert, which has set itself the task of hunting out top-level partners for its new practice. Junius joins Abradat Kamalpour in the Islamic finance group.
