Levin has built B&M's practice with private equity house Platinum Equity into a $12m (£6.8m) business and Dechert will be hopeful that he can bring this with him.
"Adam has a great track record in developing and maintaining client relationships. His clients obviously like him and we hope they'll continue to work with him," said Dechert co-head of international M&A James Croock.
B&M London managing partner Gary Senior respon-ded: "He's been a key partner on the Platinum relationship, but Platinum has been a client for a very long time and we have lots of relationships with them. I couldn't comment on what the client will do now, but there's lots of competition in the market and Dechert's just one of those."
Dechert has been building its private equity strength with the hire of Ashurst partner Mark Davis and Coudert Brothers' Munich office last year. It also took Dewey Ballantine's head of M&A Douglas Getter last month.
