Sullivan, Skadden land BlackRock merger mandate New York firms Sullivan & Cromwell and Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom advised on the $16bn (£9.18bn) mega-merger of Merrill Lynch's asset management business and fixed income manager BlackRock. The new company, called BlackRock, will control $1tr (£573.49bn) in assets. Sullivan advised Merrill Lynch, led by corporate partners Mitchell Eitel and John O'Brien. Skadden represented BlackRock, led by investment partner Richard Prins.
Davis Polk advises on Burger King share offer New York rivals Davis Polk & Wardwell and Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton advised on the $400m (£229.3m) Burger King IPO, announced on 16 February. Texas Pacific Group, Bain Capital and funds managed by Goldman Sachs were the selling shareholders. The underwriters were JPMorgan, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley. Davis Polk advised Burger King, led by capital markets partner Jeffrey Small. Cleary advised the underwriters, led by corporate partner William Gorin.
Fasken Martineau wins Addax oil and gas float Canadian firm Fasken Martineau advised oil and gas producer Addax Petroleum on its C$410m (£204.6m) IPO of common shares. Herbert Smith advised lead underwriter Merrill Lynch.
