Stephensons secures Charlemagne AIM listing

Stephenson Harwood has advised fund manager Charlemagne Capital on its £300m AIM flotation – the second-largest AIM listing this year. Stephensons senior partner Andrew Sutch led the team advising on the listing. UBS acted as financial adviser and broker to Charlemagne, while Numis Securities acted as joint lead manager. Linklaters advised UBS and Numis.

RPC wins Ten Alps’ McMillan-Scott acquisition

Reynolds Porter Chamberlain (RPC) has advised Bob Geldof’s media company Ten Alps on its £12.3m acquisition of contract publisher McMillan-Scott. Partner Jonathan Watmough led the RPC team acting for Ten Alps. The deal will broaden the company’s client base for public sector, web-based media and internet TV services. The acquisition was funded by senior debt provided by Bank of Scotland and a £4m placing by Collins Stewart and Canaccord Adams. Eversheds advised the vendors.

Nabarros closes first two purchases for Protego

Nabarro Nathanson has finally closed its first two acquisitions for new client Protego Real Estate Investors, after having to wait for the fund manager to secure a deal. Property partner Simon Staite said the time between appointment and the first deal “felt a bit like waiting for a London bus”. Protego finally secured two simultaneous deals – the purchases of a Milton Keynes industrial estate on behalf of UBS Wealth Management and a Holborn office block for Protego client Allianz Life. Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Nicholson Graham and Mishcon de Reya advised the respective vendors.
