Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom, led by Walter Henle and Matthias Jaletzke, has scooped its second deal for Apax Partners. The firm advised the private equity house on its sale of German restaurant chain Nordsee. Skadden won recent Apax work as a result of its four-partner raid on Baker & McKenzie last year. Nomura Holdings and Heiner Kamps, advised by SJ Berwin, and a group of Swiss investors, advised by Linklaters, bought Nordsee. Halliwells, led by corporate partner Adam Fenner, has completed its first instruction for Israeli satellite company Gilat Satcom. The firm advised Gilat on its £21.2m AIM flotation, which raised around £4.6m for the company. London-based Fenner said the firm won the role through a recommendation. Halliwells has worked on nearly half of all overseas AIM floats in 2005, including this year's IPO for Israeli company Dori Media Group.
The government of Taiwan has signed up Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in the US and Baker & McKenzie in Taiwan to advise it on the sale of a further 14 per cent of Chunghwa Telecom. This is the same legal team that it used for its previous issuing of American depositary shares in 2003. Sullivan & Cromwell advised underwriters Goldman Sachs, UBS and Morgan Stanley on US law and Lee and Li advised the underwriters on Taiwanese law. TLT Solicitors, led by corporate finance partner John Wood, has advised the shareholders of Flare Software Systems on the sale of their business to Civica for £9m. TLT began its relationship with the shareholders in 2003 when it advised them on their management buyout. Civica was advised by DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary.
