Dawsons’ employment practice suffers second exit in a month

Dawsons has lost its second employment partner in a month with the departure of Jill Andrew to Marriott Harrison, it has emerged.

Last month the former head of employment at Dawsons Jo Keddie left the firm after 21 years to join Winckworth Sherwood.

The confirmation of Andrew’s exit leaves no partners in Dawsons’ employment practice, with corporate partner Stephen Morrall currently heading it on an interim basis while the London firm moves to form a new team.

Senior partner Wynne Thomas confirmed that the firm is “in very advanced discussions” with two employment partners at other firms.

He added: “With a number of people leaving it’s always disruptive, but it’s given us an opportunity to reform the team. We’re moving away from the claimant side and more towards the respondent side.

“It’s sad for people to leave, but it’s an exciting time for the firm.”

Andrew will join former Thomas Eggar partner Bob Cordran in Marriott’s beefed-up employment practice. An expert on The Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations issues, Cordran has previously worked in the employment departments of Olswang and Simmons & Simmons.
