A KEEN interest in photography provided the flash of an idea which grew into a major local merger in Cheltenham.
Davis & Co and Gregorys merged to form a 21-fee-earner outfit called Davis Gregory.
Davis & Co partner Martin Davis and retiring Gregorys managing partner Peter Stone both sit on the local Law Society committee and share an interest in photography.
Davis will head up the new organisation as managing partner. "We have known each other very well for a number of years and started talking about a merger 18 months ago," he says.
Davis set up Davis & Co in 1977. It grew into a firm of 13 fee-earners concentrating on charity clients and trusts. Gregorys, established in the late 1920s, had eight fee-earners working in commercial property and criminal law.
Stone says the move will slash costs for the older firm.
Davis adds: "Davis Gregory will provide a comprehensive service to the private client."
