Canadian firm Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg has hired a new head of antitrust and trade practice from rival Osler Hoskin & Harcourt
George Addy is a leading name in Canadian competition, having been head of the Competition Bureau of Can-ada from 1993-96. Prior to that he spent six years as the head of the bureau's merger branch. Before returning to private practice in 2000 as a competition partner with Osler, he worked for telecoms company Telus Corporation in a senior executive role. His extensive list of contacts was no doubt a major consideration for the firm. "Addy brings a unique combination of experience as head of the Bureau, a private practitioner and a senior executive. It covers virtually every sector of the Canadian economy," said managing partner William O'Reilly.
