  • Army f*ckers

I can't believe the producers of Army F*ckers are resorting to Davenport Lyons. I know it's the credit crunch, but ethical principles can't just go out of the window.

While those in more traditional firms might sniff, representing the manufacturers of mastabatorial catalysts is arguably better than representing arms companies, firms trading conflict diamonds or businesses clubbing up with grisly dictatorial regimes.

The only difference that counts? None of the above have sent a £500 bill to someone’s grandparents at Christmas.

    Pornography encourages violence against women.

What kind of message is DL sending to its female employees?

agression and loose morals - match made in heaven.
Looking for a firm who don't mind misstating crudentials - match made in heaven. Shame the SRA can't be bothered to ask them to stop referring to non solicitors as "partners" of the firm.

Have you got any evidence to back that up? As you'll be the first person outside of Mary Whitehouse's imagination to prove that oft-repeated falsehood so beloved of repressed prudes.

  • To Anna

I understand your point, but how is 'Army F*ckers' victimising women? It is a bit of a sausage fest after all.

  • Banned Porn

The Army F***ers movie passed the BBFC without cuts. There are other movies that they have been accusing people of downloading which needed cuts because they showed scenes of strangulation, asphyxiation, urination and language that enouraged underage sex.

The movie makers are making moves that are require cuts to make them R18. It also means there are R18 copies and other copies not allowed to be distributed in the UK. If Davenport Lyons and their clients uploaded the movies with the R18 in the first place they could ensure that they are R18. Otherwise the movies could and probably do contain the banned content.

If they were trying to stop the distribution of porn they would have notified the people they are accusing immediately rather than waiting 6-7 months to send out letters - by not sending out the letters earlier they have made sure that this content has a good chance to be downloaded and viewed by minors.

This hit the Sunday Papers a few weeks ago and the consesus seems to be that there is extremely dodgy evidential grounds for the cease and desist claims. There is a head ( forgive Pun) of steam ( ditto) amongst some lawyers to oppose the claims on afixed fee or a conditional fee basis but it is all smacks of desperate small stuff bith for claimants and defendants and, in my experience, in the Porn business size does really matter. If nothing else it is a good excuse for middle aged male solicitors to watch porn in the office!!
