Davenport, DWS scoop Macmillan deal

Davenport Lyons and Denton Wilde Sapte (DWS) have acted on Macmillan Publishers’ successful acquisition of Kingfisher Books.

Davenport Lyons corporate partner Alon Domb led the team acting for Macmillan, while DWS corporate partner Richard Barham led the Kingfisher team.

Kingfisher publishes fiction and non-fiction for children of all ages, and the deal strengthens Macmillan’s presence in the global children’s publishing market.

Among the assets Macmillan has purchased in the deal is the back catalogue of titles such as the I Wonder Why and How To Be series.

Macmillan is a longstanding client of Davenport Lyons, which has represented the company in a number of acquisitions as well as libel and defamation work.

Domb was assisted on the deal by IP partner David Marchese and employment partner Marie van der Zyl.
