French firm Darrois Villey Maillot Brochier has picked up a three-strong tax team from Jones Day in Paris, including the US firm’s European tax head Vincent Agulhon.
Agulhon has joined Darrois as a partner, along with counsel Loïc Védie and associate Zoé Attali.
Darrois co-managing partners Didier Théophile and Olivier Diaz said the hires would further strengthen the firm’s corporate capabilities.
Agulhon joined Jones Day from CMS Bureau Francis Lefebvre in 1999. He focuses particularly on the tax issues of cross-border M&A and capital markets transactions.
Darrois routinely advises on France’s biggest transactions. Last year the firm picked up a lead role for EADS on its proposed merger with BAE Systems, which later fell through (13 September 2012).
The Jones Day team is the first to join the firm for some time, with the last set of laterals in early 2010 (12 February 2010). However three younger partners, including the son of founder Philippe Villey, left the firm to launch a boutique earlier this year (4 February 2013).
