Leading restaurant critic Egon Ronay is heading for a High Court confrontation with Global InfoCom. An action is now pending in which he is suing the company for damages following reports that inspectors who visit restaurants for the Egon Ronay Guide have not been paid and are refusing to carry on working. Ronay, one of the world's best-known food critics, sold the rights to his guides in the 1980s, and Global InfoCom took over the guides from the AA in 1985.
