DAC loses top insurance partner to client

Davies Arnold Cooper (DAC) is losing an insurance and reinsurance partner to one of its clients, Jardine Lloyd Thompson.

Edward Foss is joining the company, the fifth-largest broker in the world, in the new year, although a date has not yet been fixed.

He is set to join the in-house department to specialise in litigation on a worldwide basis. However, the firm expects that its relationship with Foss will continue.

This is the latest in a long line of departures for DAC, with its most recent loss occurring in May this year, when its entire media and defamation team left for Reynolds Porter Chamberlain (The Lawyer, 8 May).

On the client side, DAC has lost work with Norwich Union and Royal & SunAlliance to Barlow Lyde & Gilbert, which in April began taking on a number of lawyers from DAC's common law department.

Both Foss and DAC were unavailable for comment.
