DAC culls Manchester property arm

Davies Arnold Cooper is continuing to strip back its Manchester office by closing its property department.

The closure comes just two months after the firm's entire construction team left to join Hammond Suddards. (The Lawyer, 15 March).

At the time of the departures Phil Jepson, managing partner at Davies Arnold Cooper's Manchester office, said construction, property and litigation were the firm's core businesses.

However, commenting on the closure of the property department, Jepson says: “We haven't done property work for some time. It was there to give support to the corporate team.”

Jepson adds: “It was not a core business in Manchester as it is in London. We only dabbled in it here.”

The department is headed by associate Gary Cohen, who Jepson says was made redundant at the time of DAC's restructure in February.
