Davies Arnold Cooper (DAC) has won Olympic gold-medal hopeful Amir Khan as a new client.
Boxing star Khan and his family have instructed DAC’s Manchester sports department head Gareth Williams as the 17-year-old goes for gold in Athens.
Williams is guiding the Khans through the mass of attention the boxer is getting ahead of Sunday’s final, and flew out to the Greek capital last night (Thursday 26 August). He told The Lawyer that newspapers and television were clamouring for Khan’s story, and his role is to secure the best deal for “Amir Khan the boxer”.
“I’m making sure nothing untoward happens out there,” Williams said. “It’s amazing how much interest there’s been.”
He added that Khan, who is already assured of a bronze medal but must win this evening’s bout to make it to the final, will have been closeted from the attention surrounding him over the past week, and that his boxing career must come ahead of any deal made.
