Andersen Legal's law firms in the Czech Republic and Slovakia are in merger talks with the Ernst & Young network
Andersen's accountancy practices in the region are already set to merge with the fellow big five firm. The law firm talks are still at the due diligence stage. But if all goes well, the Andersen Legal practices in the Czech Republic and Slovakia intend to join Ernst & Young by July. Weinhold Andersen Legal's Czech managing partner Joel Schemell confirmed the talks. "In the next two weeks we should have any movement confirmed. We're all trying to engineer a July integration. We're currently performing due diligence, looking at client conflicts and operational due diligence," he said. The Lawyer understands that both parties are confident that no redundancies will arise from the merger. Ernst & Young already has a legal presence in Romania, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and the Ukraine, but not Slovakia.
