South-West firm Clarke Willmott & Clarke has taken the unusual step of appointing a doctor to its clinical negligence team.
Dr Baratha Devi trained at University College Hospitals London and recently took her LPC. She joins Clarke Willmott as a paralegal and medical assistant based at the firm's regional law centre in Blackbrook, near Taunton. Her experience includes work for the charity Action for Victims of Medical Accidents. Clarke Willmott's head of clinical negligence Andrew Hannam said that the appointment will enable his team to assess the strength of cases in-house at a much earlier stage than would otherwise be possible. He said: "Our approach has always been to pursue vigorously good cases and to weed out those cases without merit as early as possible."
