Cuatrecasas launches in Malaga with local merger

Iberian firm Cuatrecasas Gonçalves Pereira has bolted-on an office in Malaga following a merger with local player Romero y Robles.

Romero y Robles name partners Francisco Romero and Jorge Robles, experts in insolvency and public law respectively, will lead the office, which has one associate.

Lawyers from Cuatrecasas will also join the office at a later date. By the end of the year the firm aims to have six lawyers at the office, with the number doubling the following year.

Luis Olivencia, managing partner of Cuatrecasas’s Seville office, said: “By coordinating and increasing the cooperation between the Seville and Malaga offices, we’ll be able to strengthen our presence in the autonomous region of Andalusia.”

Cuatrecasas’s merger with Romero y Robles comes after a long relationship between the two firms. Romero worked at Cuatrecasas’s Barcelona office before leaving to co-found Romero y Robles.

Cuatrecasas now has 19 offices across Iberia, as well as offices in Brussels, London, New York, Paris, Casablanca and Shanghai.
